Bonj is Soweto born and bred songstress with real name as Bonj Mpanza, and without doubt is the face and voice of a new age of genre-bending, experimental pop musicians that has been brewing in South Africa for the last few years. Her debut EP, A Journal is a seven-track tour de force of skillfully produced house beats which brings a new sound and feelings into the genre. With a signature husky vocal that’s entirely enthralling, Bonj’s commitment to the elevation of her craft culminates in this EP, a self-reflection of the formative years that have led to this pivotal moment in her career with her Shivers alongside Da Capo.
Da Capo on the other hand, have been one of the best hit maker in the country with countless hit tracks, many of which still tops many local and international charts till date and some of which will be his partnership with songstress Renee Thompson where they both journey through “Resistance” and have been considered as one of the most used track on mixtapes by many DJs. His last appearance will be on Simmy Made Of Stone Album where they both connected Sun-El Musician on Emakhaya, which still holds as the best track on that project, and coming today he decides to lend his skills to Bonj on Shivers.
